Red Wings Favourite For The Cup – Online Casino News

The second round of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) post-season is now underway with defending champions Detroit Red Wings the bookmakers’ overwhelming pick to lift the Stanley Cup come June.

The first round of the NHL playoffs began on April 15 with 16 teams, or eight from each of the two conferences, playing a best of seven series against a local rival. The eight winners have now moved on to the conference quarter-finals and the playoff format carries on until there is only one team left.

The Detroit Red Wings lifted the eleventh Stanley Cup in its history last season as NHL champions and are listed at odds of 39/19 with WBX.com to do it again this year. Detroit is currently tied with the Anaheim Ducks at one game each but BoyleSports.com has the Michigan side at 9/4 while BetFred.com is offering 5/2. BetDaq.com has Detroit at 13/7 while the longest odds on the Western Conference team seem to be the 45/17 available from Betfair.com.

A very distant second is the Boston Bruins who are listed at odds of 19/5 with BetDaq.com despite winning the Eastern Conference regular season title. WBX.com has the Massachusetts team at 4/1 while BoyleSports.com is currently going with 9/2. Boston is currently tied with the Carolina Hurricanes with one game each with Betfair.com offering odds of 23/5 that it will win its first Cup since 1972.

In third is the Washington Capitals, who are being given at odds of 19/5 with BetDaq.com followed by 41/10 with WBX.com. Washington have never won the Stanley Cup and BoyleSports.com is showing 4/1 while Betfair.com lists 21/5.

Fourth favourite is the Anaheim Ducks at odds of 13/2 with BoyleSports.com and PaddyPower.com while BetDaq.com shows 7/1 followed by the 9/1 from Betfair.com and 19/2 from WBX.com.

An outside bet is last year’s beaten finalists, the Pittsburgh Penguins, at odds of 12/1 with BoyleSports.com. Better odds of 10/1 are available from WBX.com while PaddyPower.com is currently showing 17/2.
