Hooray For a country where the federal government has put restriction on Internet gambling, there are a growing number of states who appear to disagree with the federal government’s decision. One of those states is now Illinois.
Illinois lawmakers passed a Bill this past week that will allow online gambling. The Bill was passed in both the House and the Senate, and now only awaits the signature of the governor of Illinois.
The new law will allow residents to bet on horse races from the comfort of their own homes, through the Internet. The measure is being met with widespread excitement from people in Illinois.
“Hopefully this is only the first step,” said Billy Cormate, ” if we are allowed to bet on horse online, then we should also have the right to play poker or play at an online casinos.”
That may not be in the hands of Illinois lawmakers. Representative Barney Frank, however, does believe what Cormate and many other people in the US have been saying for years. That is why Frank has introduced legislation that would overturn the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act and set guidelines for legalized Internet gambling in the country.
Illinois did not stop at the Internet gambling. Lawmakers in the state also approved video gambling machines for bars, and are considering expanding the state’s casinos by four.
