Harrah's Entertainment Harrah’s Entertainment launched their online casino sites several months ago, and although they do not accept US gamblers, the company is appealing to US online gamers. Harrah’s has started running advertisements for their World Series of Poker website.
Harrah’s became the first of the big Las Vegas casino corporations to enter the Internet gambling market. The company has unveiled sites, some using the Caesar’s brand name in European countries where Internet gambling is regulated by the government.
US gamblers are unable to bet real money on the WSOP site, but new poker players can use the site to learn the game. Play chips are used, and officials claim that big prizes will be available to be won in the near future.
Among those prizes could be entries into the 2011 World Series of Poker and free nights at Harrah’s properties in Sin City. What players will be looking forward to is when they can place real bets, and that may be coming in the near future.
Representative Barney Frank and his fellow legislators passed a bill this past week in the House Financial Services Committee that would overturn the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006.
If the UIGEA is overturned, it has been widely speculated that Las Vegas casino company’s would have the first shot at online gaming licenses.
Harrah’s has recently taken an ad out in the USA Today and has promoted their online poker site on ESPN telecasts of the 2010 World Series of Poker.
